In The Lighthouse, we are a small nurture group which supports learners with SEMH need

s.

At Underwood West Academy, we believe in including every child, especially those with Special Educational Needs.

In the Lighthouse, we provide a calm, happy and safe place where children can learn and feel

 secure. We focus on building important life skills such as talking and listening to others, managing

 emotions, looking after themselves and becoming more independent.

The Lighthouse Staff:

Miss Holliwell - Class Teacher 

Mr Foster - Learning Mentor 

Mrs Nott - Teaching Assistant 

Routine: 

The Lighthouse runs from 8:45 til 3:15 daily.

We use a visual timetable to structure the whole day.

This consists of welcome time, Monster phonics, The Good Morning Club, Talk for Writing, snack, outside play, topic and maths with lots of ‘sensory breaks’ throughout.

The curriculum is bespoke to meet the variety of need in the class.

PE is on a Tuesday. 

Forest school is on a Wednesday. 

We cannot wait to welcome you all into The Lighthouse.
